VacParts Warehouse was awesome.  Kirby (at some point) changed the diameter and thread pitch of screw.  Best way is to buy a small 'jam nut' and put on inside of housing.

There is no doubt that you sent me what I orderd.  However, it would not stay tight, so I had to buy a used front in which the screw is "locked" in by Kirby.  I do not understand how they install this screw, but apparently it is done before attaching the front piece.
