Bissell 9500 ProHeat 2X CleanShot Repair August 1, 2017
Reviewer: Raymond Nosewicz from Navarre, FL United States
The replacement pump repaired my unit. It was stored about two years, and had no spray when used.

I found a Series 8920, 9200, 9300, 9400 Service Center Guide on the Bissell site to guide me through the repair.

I disassembled and found clogged spray heads, deposits in the heater which restricted the flow.  The pump had some flow, but when reassembled, no flow. It had not failed completely, making troubleshooting difficult. I deduced the pump was the trouble, ordered the new part, which ultimately fixed the unit.

Lesson learned - Before storage, flush the unit. Remove cleaning fluid, fill both tanks with clean water, flush completely, switching between all setting, flush the clean shot sprayer and accessory hose. Removed tanks and flush remaining water from the unit. This should prevent cleaning fluid from clogging things or damaging the pump or other parts. I'm not sure if better to leave the unit dry or with clean water in the system. Time will tell.

Bissell Pump #2036717 November 5, 2016
Reviewer: 8 Cats from POWDER SPRINGS, GA United States
This is an exact replacement for the OEM pump in my Bissell Proheat 2X carpet cleaner.  I did not use the machine for several months and the shampoo residue gummed up the original pump.  The machine now works like it's supposed to.  I don't know when I'll need to use it again, so this time I flushed out the shampoo dispensing system before I stored the machine.

Bissell carpet cleaner August 30, 2016
Reviewer: john braddock from harrington, DE United States
Pretty involved job just getting to the pump, many screws and pieces to move out of the way. There is a 5 hose manifold that has to be removed to get to the pump. Actually replacing the pump was pretty straightforward putting all the hoses and parts back together as a little bit more difficult. It's important to label all the hoses on the manifold so that they can be reinstalled properly.
It was a pretty involved repair but with $20 to see a $200 plus carpet shampooer is worth the effort.
